The Flamboyant Pheasant

The Flamboyant Pheasant

Hello! I’m back to share the last of the four new pieces, as promised, from a long wait to get them all scanned, due to the lockdown. So here is one of my lovely garden visitors, I call them all Freddy’s, after our neighbours had named an old Pheasant Freddy some years ago, who used to wander our gardens chattering away to himself, what sounded like, “Nice, nice, nice, nice!” His name stuck and now all Pheasants are Freddy’s in our world!

I have always loved Pheasants, their colours and flamboyant ways, always make me smile and feel “nice”. So I was very excited to co-create with him and although I found this piece very challenging, as it is so very difficult to capture that electric sheen that their feathers have, I am glad I persevered and I feel this piece honours who he is, yet acknowledges that nature is more beautiful that we can recreate and that is how it is.

Pheasants energy is also about being free of judgements and assumptions, a particularly challenging quality for us human folks to learn and remember. I love to be reminded by them – a call as I am saying my morning prayers or meditation as much as seeing one in the garden. What a different world we would live in if we humans would drop our judgements and assumptions and take each being and each situation as we find it, learning as we proceed and taking appropriate actions and responses as we discover more.

I hope you love him, I am very excited to share his original alongside the rest of my Wild Britain Collection for the whole of May at the wonderful Animal Art Gallery in Malton, North Yorkshire. In the meantime and as well as the originals I am already offering greetings cards and Sinterix prints of him too. If you would like to browse my greetings card range click HERE If you would like to order a print please message me on my Get in Touch page, each A4 print is £40 plus appropriate postage and packaging.
